One of our favorite events of the year is returning to Coopers Elementary! Join us for our famous PBIS Trunk or Treat celebration and help us celebrate positive behavior in SPOOKY style! This event is scheduled for Thursday, October 31 beginning at 1:00 on the front lawn of our school. In order for this event to be a success, we need your help! We’re looking for 25 volunteers to decorate their trunks and join the fun! At the event, each trunk will "pose" for a picture. Our students will vote on the BEST decorated trunk at the event. The winner of this contest will $25.00 Amazon Gift Card! Get those trunks decorated! Can't attend? You can still help by donating bags of individually wrapped candy to the front office of the school. Curriculum Night
Good Evening Bulldogs, It's hard to believe September has come and gone, and we're now stepping into the beautiful fall month of October. This Tuesday, we will be hosting our Curriculum and Title 1 Night. From 5:00 to 5:30 PM, I will be reviewing our Title 1 budget in the library. Afterward, parents will have the opportunity to visit their child's classroom to learn about the curriculum and the tests students will be taking this year. Please note that third-grade teachers have already presented their information and will not be present that evening. We will have three rotations for parents to visit different grade levels: 5:30–6:00 PM, 6:10–6:40 PM, and 6:50–7:20 PM. Our PTO will also be on site, selling items in the center circle, and a member of the Cub Scouts will be available with information for any families interested in learning more. This Wednesday is National Custodial Day. A big thank you to our four wonderful custodians—Mr. Rodney, Mrs. Tracy, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Tucker—for all they do to keep our school looking great! Additionally, our third graders will be going on their Ecology field trip on Wednesday. If you haven’t returned your child's permission slip, please do so as soon as possible. Students without signed permission forms will not be able to attend. This Friday marks our first PBIS Hat Day! For a $1 donation, students can wear a hat to school and around campus all day. The money raised will support PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) incentives throughout the year for students who earn them. Our first PBIS event will be a Trunk or Treat at the end of October. Finally, our October newsletter will be sent out via email this evening. If you do not receive it, please let your child’s teacher know and provide your email address to ensure you receive important updates about upcoming events each month. It includes upcoming dates such as picture day on the 8th of October and Beautification day on the 12th from 9-12pm. We would love to have a great turn out for this event! I hope everyone has a great evening.

Bulldog families, over the past two weeks, Jessica Ezell from Carolina Family Health visited our students and gave an eye-opening demonstration on the effects of sugar from popular drinks, showing how plaque can build up if we don't brush our teeth properly. She also shocked everyone by revealing how many teaspoons of sugar are in one serving of apple juice. Yikes! This was just another reminder of how important it is to pay close attention to what we are eating and drinking. Don't forget to turn in your signed permission forms if you'd like your child to visit the Dental Bus. Let's keep those bulldog smiles healthy!

Good Evening Bulldogs, I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. This upcoming week we have Early Release on Wednesday. Our students will get out of school at 1:00pm. That means that early check out ends at 12:30pm from the school’s front office and please be at your child’s bus stop 2 hours earlier than normal. This Wednesday is also “See you at the Flagpole”. Students at schools all across America annually gather at their school's flagpole to pray for their schools, friends, teachers, government, and nation. This national event, called See You at the Pole, is student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led. We have students at Coopers that would like to lead this event this Wednesday starting at 7:30 am. If your child would like to participate, please bring your child to school by 7:30am and drop them off in the K-2 car line. Last but not least, please find all of our upcoming events posted on our school’s website under the students tab. Please remember to mark your calendars for October 1st, which will be our Title 1 and curriculum night. I look forward to another wonderful work week. I hope everyone has a great evening.

Good Evening Bulldogs, Another week has flown by, and we're thrilled with how our Bulldogs are settling into the school year. Our kindergartners and new students have adapted wonderfully, and our third graders have completed their first state assessment. This Tuesday, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., our third-grade teachers will host a Parent Night. We'll provide pizza and water for all attendees. This event is exclusively for third graders and their parents. I'll kick off the evening with information about Title I, followed by the teachers discussing the assessments students have taken and will take, third-grade proficiency pathways, curriculum details, expectations, homework, grading policies, and more. It's an event you won’t want to miss if you have a third grader! For parents with children in other grades, mark your calendars for Curriculum Night on October 1st. We’ll share more details soon. Our Bulldog raffle is ongoing until Monday, September 30th. The funds raised, along with district support, will help us purchase new playground equipment for our students. If you have raffle tickets you don’t plan to use, please return them to school. A big thank you to those who have been selling tickets—we know the new equipment will be a big hit with our students! For parents of bus riders, there’s a new app called “Where’s the Bus.” Flyers were sent home on Friday with a QR code to access real-time bus information. Thank you for your time. Have a wonderful evening!

Hello Bulldogs, I just wanted to give you a friendly reminder about a new safety measure we’re introducing at our school, starting this week (Monday, September 9, 2024). Each week, we’ll randomly select 10% of our students to either walk through a metal detector or be wanded by a trained staff member. This could include students who ride the bus, carpool, or walk to school. Please know that we’ll be handling this process with care and respect for all students, and we’ll be closely monitoring everything to ensure it runs smoothly. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly. Thank you so much for your understanding and support as we work to keep our school safe!

Good Evening Bulldogs, Another fantastic week has flown by, and I couldn’t be more proud of our students and staff for how well the school year has started. It’s been an amazing start! This past Tuesday was Independence Day. As a reminder, all students should now be walking to class on their own unless you have specific permission from administration. Starting this week, we ask that all parents use the car line for morning drop-off. For safety reasons, please refrain from parking in the staff lot and walking your child over. A quick note for parents of third graders: The Beginning of Grade 3 assessment is scheduled for this Tuesday. Please ensure your child arrives on time and starts their day right—get plenty of rest, offer positive encouragement, provide a healthy breakfast, and share good vibes. We appreciate your support! I’m excited for another fantastic week of being a Bulldog! I will see everyone on Monday. Have a great weekend.

Good Evening Bulldogs, We've officially wrapped up the first week of the 24-25 school year, and I couldn't be more proud. While there are still a few wrinkles to iron out with transportation, we're confident those will be smoothed out soon. The transportation team is working hard to finalize bus routes and improve efficiency. At this point, all car-riding students should have their name/number tags. If you haven’t received yours yet, please contact the front office, and we'll make sure you get it in the afternoon car line on Tuesday. This is a friendly reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday due to the holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday. On Tuesday, we will also welcome all of our pre-K students as their staggered enrollment ended today. This upcoming week, we will be conducting our monthly emergency drills, with a fire drill scheduled for Wednesday and a lockdown drill on Thursday. These are precautionary measures to ensure everyone's safety. Starting this month, students will begin their beginning-of-year assessments in both reading and math. We have a 3rd grade parent night scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th. We encourage all 3rd grade parents to attend as our teachers will review the various assessments students will take, including the Beginning of Grade 3 assessment results. Third grade is a critical year with the most assessments, and we want parents and guardians to understand the reports and stay informed about their child’s progress. All other grade levels will meet in October to review their respective grade level reports. Lastly, safety is our top priority. In the mornings, please refrain from passing cars while in the drop-off line—patience is key. In the afternoons, only go around other cars when directed by a staff member, usually when cars are waiting for students. If you’re heading to the K-2 car line, remember that it’s a double line until you reach the road between the gym and the pre-K building. This road is two-way, so it must remain a single lane. Thank you and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good Evening Bulldogs, These first three days have gone smoothly. Our students have seemed to adjust very well and are transitioning back into school mode from summer break. I hope our kindergarten students are excited about all coming back tomorrow and meeting their new classmates, as staggered enrollment ended today. Our pre-k students will continue to stagger this week. I wanted to also call and inform parents that as we navigate Pik-my-kid, we have seen that for our K-2 carline, you do not need to announce that you are on campus. As long as you have your child's card displayed so it is visible, that is all that we are asking for at this time. Hopefully, this will relieve some stress from some of you. You can still use some of the other features in the app if you would like- such as change of transportation or adding someone to the pick-up list for the day. Lastly, as many of you may know, we are selling fast pass raffle tickets in the car line (morning and afternoon). Each ticket is a dollar donation to the school. You can request as many tickets as you would like, write in your name and phone number on the back of each, and return them before Tuesday afternoon. You pay when you return your tickets. Feel free to request tickets from the car line, your child's teacher, and/or the front office. Again, you do not pay until you turn the tickets in. We will draw out 5 names Tuesday afternoon (we are out for a Holiday on Monday). The fast pass is good through Christmas this year. I look forward to seeing everyone in the morning and seeing our kindergarten classrooms full. Take care and have a great evening.
