Good Evening Bulldogs, We’ve made it to the final week of school! As we close out a wonderful year, we want to share some important updates and reminders for the week ahead: • Monday: Our 3rd grade students who have not yet met the Reading Pathway will take the Read to Achieve test. We also have a few students completing EOG make-up testing due to absences last week. • Tuesday: Students will enjoy our End-of-Year Celebration! • Wednesday: o 2nd Grade Awards: 8:30–10:00 AM o 3rd Grade Awards: 10:30 AM–12:00 PM o 4th Grade Awards: 1:00–2:30 PM • Thursday: o Kindergarten Graduation: 8:30–10:30 AM o 1st Grade Awards: 11:00 AM–12:30 PM • Friday: o 5th Grade Graduation: 9:00–11:00 AM o Last Day of School – Students will receive their report cards. If your child is absent on Friday, you may stop by the school the following week during school hours to pick it up. This year, our aim was to be a “B” school, and I truly believe we are capable of achieving that with your continued support. Currently, we are still waiting on our science EOG scores and growth data to be added into the equation. Although we have not yet reached our schoolwide goal, we are very close. Please note that 5th grade science EOGs are being re-normed, and scores will not be available until the next school year. We will not receive our official score until around November. Students who did not meet proficiency on their EOGs will retest on June 10th and 11th. They will be having remediation from now until then in the subject area(s) they need to retest. Transportation will be provided. Additional information will be sent home with those students. Our students and staff have worked incredibly hard all year long, and I could not be more proud of their effort, growth, and resilience. Let’s finish the year strong,

Good Evening Bulldogs, This is a very important week for our upper-grade Bulldogs as they either begin or continue with their End-of-Grade (EOG) testing. Our students have worked incredibly hard all year long, and we could not be more proud of their efforts. As they head into testing, we simply ask that they relax, stay confident, and do their very best. We believe in them wholeheartedly—this is just one more step on their path to greatness! As our students prepare for their End-of-Grade (EOG) tests this week, we’d love your help in spreading some encouragement! Sidewalk chalk has been placed near the main front entrance, as well as the two side entrances closest to the cafeteria and the 4th–5th grade hallway. If you’d like to leave a positive or uplifting message to motivate our students as they enter the building, please feel free to stop by and write a note. Your support means the world and can make a big difference as they head into testing! A quick reminder for families in the 3rd-5th grade carline: For the safety of all students and staff, we kindly ask that you remain behind the car in front of you while in the line. Please do not speed or attempt to pass other vehicles. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in keeping everyone safe during drop-off and pick-up. If your child has medication stored at school, please be sure to pick it up on or before their last day. Any medication left behind after the last day of school will be discarded, as we cannot store it over the summer. As we head into the long weekend, we encourage you to enjoy this time with your loved ones. In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no school on Monday. We are forever grateful to the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Good Evening Bulldogs: Earlier this week, the district shared a reminder about responsible use of school-issued technology devices and resources. This message serves as a follow-up to that communication. As we wrap up the school year, we want to remind families and students to use school-issued technology responsibly. While we’ve had no confirmed incidents locally, national reports have highlighted unsafe online trends involving electronic devices. Misuse—especially of devices with lithium batteries—can pose serious safety risks, including fire or injury. Please: Encourage responsible tech use at home. NCPS Technology Use Policy Remind students not to mimic harmful online challenges. Report any concerning behavior to school staff immediately. Students found misusing devices will be subject to the NCPS Discipline Matrix and applicable policies. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools safe.

Greetings Bulldogs, I apologize for not getting this message out last night — I had some trouble with the website and tried several times without success. This is a short week as we head into Spring Break! Our last day of school before the break is Thursday, and students will return on Monday, April 28th. Here’s what’s happening this week: NC Check-Ins: Our 3rd–5th graders will be taking their final NC Check-Ins of the year. Please help them come prepared with a good night’s rest. Kindergarten Field Trip: On Tuesday, kindergarten will visit the Charles B. Aycock birthplace. Be sure all permission slips have been signed and returned. Easter Celebrations: On Tuesday, first grade will enjoy their Easter breakfast beginning at 8:15 AM. Wednesday, both kindergarten and second grade will celebrate Easter with some fun activities. No School Friday: There will be no school on Friday as we begin our Spring Break. Community Event: On Saturday, Kingdom International Church will host a fun event at Coopers' school starting at 11 AM on the 3–5 playground. There will be hot dogs and an Easter egg hunt — everyone is invited for a day of food, fun, and fellowship! Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!

K- Parents: This is a reminder that all morning drop-offs must be done through the car line. We have recently observed several parents parking and walking their children to the building, which goes against our established safety procedures. Please understand that these procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all students. Our driveway is narrow, and unfortunately, we’ve had several near collisions. Today we almost had a student get hit. To prevent any future incidents, all parents will be required to use the car line moving forward, unless you have a meeting and are walking your child into the school building. Additionally, if your child arrives after 8:00 AM, an adult must walk them to the front office and sign them in. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

Good Evening, Bulldog Families, We have another exciting and busy week ahead at Coopers Elementary! This week is Assistant Principal’s Week, and we want to give a huge shoutout to Mr. Snowden for his dedication, hard work, and unwavering support for our students and staff. Thank you, Mr. Snowden, for all you do! Tuesday is Spring Picture Day. Only students who bring in prepayment will have their photos taken. In addition, our 5th grade students will take their Science Benchmark on Tuesday—please ensure they get a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast. On Wednesday, our 4th and 5th grade AIG students will be heading to the Nash County Courthouse to participate in their exciting Mock Trial—a great learning opportunity and a chance to shine! On Thursday, we want to remind families with rising kindergarten students that registration begins! Families may register online, but if assistance is needed with uploading documents, staff will be available on Thursday from 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM to help. Friday will be a fun day for our 1st and 5th graders as they head out on their field trip. Please make sure all permission slips have been signed and returned. 🌸 Spring is here, and it’s time to give our campus a little TLC! We invite all families to join us for our Spring School Beautification Day this Saturday, April 12th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Let’s work together to prepare our school for upcoming celebrations like the Bulldog Bash, graduation ceremonies, and more! We’re looking for volunteers to assist with landscaping, cleanup, and light projects—every helping hand makes a difference! We have about 31 school days left—let’s finish strong and make each day count! Have a great evening, and as always, Go Bulldogs! 🐾

World Autism Day, observed annually on April 2nd, is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about autism, a neurological condition that affects millions of people worldwide. As part of this awareness campaign, individuals are encouraged to wear specific colors to show their support and solidarity with the autism community. Blue is the most widely recognized color associated with autism, symbolizing awareness, acceptance, and support. It also represents qualities such as calmness, trust, and loyalty—key elements in fostering strong relationships with individuals on the autism spectrum. Wearing blue on World Autism Day serves as a meaningful gesture of support. Red is another color often linked to autism, representing passion, energy, and love for individuals on the spectrum. It is also associated with advocacy and awareness, helping to draw attention to the challenges and needs of the autism community. I encourage all students and staff to wear red on Wednesday if possible, or blue as an alternative. Wearing these colors on World Autism Day is a simple yet powerful way to demonstrate support and solidarity. By recognizing the significance behind these colors, we can contribute to fostering greater awareness, acceptance, and inclusion. Remember, even small gestures of support can have a profound impact on individuals with autism and their families. This Saturday, April 5th there will be a 3K walk at Miracle Park in honor of Christal Lane, a former Coopers Elementary student who lost her life due to child abuse. Participants are encouraged to wear blue. Event bands are $5. The event starts at 11am. It is being sponsored by a local church. For more information call 252-886-3414.

Good Evening Bulldogs, Spring weather has officially arrived! Please note that the air conditioning in our building was turned on this week. As we work to adjust temperatures and ensure everything is functioning properly, some classrooms may feel warmer or cooler than others. This will be a busy week for our fifth graders! On Monday, they will visit their zoned middle schools—either Southern Nash Middle or Nash Central Middle. Then on Tuesday, they will head to the zoo for their field trip. Please make sure all permission slips are signed and returned. Wednesday is an early release day for all students at 1:00pm, and it’s also Paraprofessional Appreciation Day, also known as Teacher Assistant Appreciation Day. We want to give a huge shoutout to our incredible instructional assistants for their hard work and dedication in supporting student success! To end the week, Friday is our $1 PBIS Hat Day, as well as School Librarian Appreciation Day. A special thank you to Mrs. Pittman for everything she does for our students—you are truly appreciated! Wishing everyone a wonderful evening!

These funds will support student field trips next year, school beautification projects, student and teacher resources, and much more. Our PTO shares detailed information on how these funds are allocated during their meetings, and all stakeholders are welcome to attend.
