Good Evening Bulldogs,
Over the next few weeks, students in grades 4 and 5 will be trained on utilizing the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. The system allows students and staff to anonymously report safety concerns to a national multilingual crisis center that is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Students will learn how to use the system and how to spot signs of at-risk behaviors, potential violence and other safety concerns that should be reported.
Submitted tips are received by a national multilingual crisis center, then sent to local school leaders and, when necessary, to local 911 centers for immediate response.
This system gives our students and staff an additional tool to prevent acts of violence and provide assistance to students in crisis. Say Something is intended to be used by students in grades 4-12, and by staff, and is currently utilized by our middle and high schools.
More than 5,000 schools nationwide are using this program, which is offered by Sandy Hook Promise, a national nonprofit organization.
Thank you for your understanding. Please contact the school's administration if you have any questions.

A HOWLING thank you to our BOO - tiful bulldog families that made our Trunk or Treat event on Thursday, October 31 a success. This event was filled with spook - tacular fun, and it wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our families. We are grateful for each of you who took time out of your busy day to join us and celebrate our bulldog students and their positive behavior.

Good Evening Bulldogs,
Last week was filled with learning, fun, and celebrations! All of our winners have been announced in our ROOMs app and posted on our live feed on our school’s website.
This week, we’re getting back to business! Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will be taking their first NC Check-In assessments, so please ensure they get a good night's sleep, have breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Our kindergarten students have an exciting field trip planned for Friday to “It’s A Zoo Life.” If your child is in kindergarten, please remember to sign and return the permission slip—it's required for them to participate.
Just a reminder that next Monday, the 11th, is Veterans Day, and there will be no school. On Tuesday, the 12th, we’ll host a Veterans Day breakfast at our school to honor the Veterans in our community. If you know a Veteran, we would love for them to join us for this special celebration. Please check our website or Facebook page for more details.
Next Tuesday, the 12th, is our fall retake picture day for students. If your child missed picture day in October or if you'd like them to have a retake, this will be their opportunity.
Please be sure to mark next Thursday, the 14th, on your calendar for our STREAM Night! Last year, students and families had a fantastic time, and we’re excited to welcome everyone back for an evening of learning and fun. STREAM Night kicks off at 5:15 pm with exhibits in the gym, followed by the first session from 6:05-6:35 pm and the final session from 6:45-7:15 pm. More details will be shared soon!
I’m looking forward to another great week as a proud “Bulldog.” Wishing everyone a wonderful evening!

We were absolutely blown away by the creativity and effort from all of our participants in the annual Pumpkin Decorating and Creative Writing contest! From SPOOKY stories to BEAUTIFULLY decorate pumpkins, each entry showcased the incredible talent of our Coopers Elementary students. Check out this year's winners here: https://bit.ly/4eeaGUV
A huge thank you to our amazing community judges who took the time to review each unique entry and help us select our winners. We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the parent volunteers who assisted with the morning check in process and those who worked swiftly to transform the gym from a Halloween extravaganza to an Awards Day ready celebration! Your support means so much to our students AND school.
Congratulations, bulldogs! We hope that you enjoy your gift card and bag of sweet treats. Families, it's never too early to begin thinking about next year's pumpkin or writing entry!

Good Morning,
Our lost and found items will be on display outside of the gym today. Parents/Guardians, please look through these items to see if they belong to your child. Whatever is left, will be donated to Injoy in Rocky Mount first of next week.

Mark your calendars, grab your costumes, and head to the Coopers Fire Department for an evening of Trunk or Treat FUN tomorrow, Thursday, October 31!
From 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, join us for: tons of candy, spooky tunes, food trucks, and a chance to explore the fire trucks. This is going to be a night of halloween fun for the whole family!
🍬🎃👻 See you there, bulldogs! 👻🎃🍬

Trunk or Treat at SNHS this Thursday.

Bulldog families, the post that shared this information earlier has been deleted to eliminate any confusion regarding the timing of Thursday's events. Please review the updated information carefully:
We need your help to make this Thursday, October 31, unforgettable at Coopers Elementary!
We have two exciting events planned, and your support will make all the difference!
First up, the Pumpkin Decorating & Creative Writing Contest. We’re looking for volunteers to assist with checking in pumpkins and writing samples and helping students place their pumpkins properly on display tables. If you’re available Thursday morning, we’d love to have you join us to support this spooktacular event! Click here to sign up: https://bit.ly/3AbBBCT
Then, to celebrate our Bulldogs PAWSITIVE behavior, we need 25 volunteer families to decorate their trunks and hand out treats at our famous Trunk or Treat event beginning at 11:30 on Thursday! If you are available for this event, please note that we would like you to arrive at 10:30 to begin setting up your trunk. To sign up to help, click here: https://bit.ly/3Y0qequ
If you can lend a helping hand, please reach out to us! It is going to be a busy and memorable day for our students and staff!

Bulldog families, next Thursday, October 31, is going to be gourd-geous and jam-packed with fun! Make sure to check out our latest video so you don’t fall behind on any of the details! Video Link: https://bit.ly/3AqAZct
There are three exciting events taking place on campus on Thursday:
First up, the Pumpkin Decorating and Creative Writing Contest! If your child is participating in this event, they can submit their pumpkin or story for entry beginning at 7:30 in the gym. 🎃✏️
Beginning at 8:30 on the outside track is our annual Book Character Parade! We can't wait to see our students dressed up as their favorite book characters! 📚👻
And finally, we will end the day with a SWEET celebration of good behavior with our first PBIS Celebration of the year, the TRUNK OR TREAT! 🚗🍬
It’s a PUMPKIN-packed day you won’t want to miss! If you have any questions or concerns related to the activities please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

Good Evening Bulldogs,
We want to start by thanking you all for your overwhelming support of our Candy Man fundraiser! The final numbers are in, and our PTO will be announcing the top-selling students soon—stay tuned.
This Monday we have a gentleman from the Cub Scouts who will be at school in the library at 5:00 for any parents who are interested in receiving more information or signing your child up. He will be on campus from 5:00-5:45pm.
This upcoming week is one of my favorite weeks of the year- Red Ribbon Week.
Red Ribbon Week is an annual event to raise awareness and educate youth about the dangers of drugs. Each day this week is themed:
Monday- Drugs are Wacky - Wear Crazy Socks
Tuesday- Put a lid on drugs- wear your favorite hat
Wednesday- Turn your back on drugs- wear your clothes backwards
Thursday- Say Boo to Drugs- Story book Character day (described below)
Friday- Proud to be Drug Free- Wear Red from head to toe
On Thursday, October 31, we’re kicking off the morning with our annual Pumpkin Decorating and Creative Writing contests. If your child is participating, make sure to bring their pumpkin or writing sample to the gym for check-in between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM. Don’t worry, we’ve got extra slips if you need them.
Next up on the 31st, we’ve got the always popular Book Character Parade, starting at 8:30 AM on the outside track. For your child to participate, they need to wear a school-appropriate costume and have a copy of the book their character is from. And Bulldogs—no weapons as props! Families are welcome to come and pump up the fun as spectators!
In the afternoon of the 31st is where the real treats are, with our first PBIS Celebration of the year—our famous Trunk or Treat! Thank you to the families who’ve volunteered to deck out their trunks and pass out some sweet treats. If you’re volunteering a trunk, please arrive on campus by 10:30 AM to set up. Our patch of trick-or-treaters will start strolling through at 11:30 AM, and the event will wrap up by 2:00 PM so we can roll into car line. (Again, this is a PBIS event so students have to earn the privilege of going to this event by having positive behavior this 9 weeks.)
Last but not least, this Friday is our first Awards Day celebration of the year. This year, each 9 weeks will be followed by an Awards Day. Every child will not be receiving an award at this particular event. If your child is getting an award, they will receive a golden half piece of paper with the time and information listed for you so that you can attend if you are able in their take home folder.
Thank you again for all of your support and I look forward to a week of learning and Fall Fun at Coopers this week.

This is a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, October 24, is an Early Release Day! Students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM. Also, please note that there will be no school for students on Friday, October 25, due to a Mandatory Teacher Workday.
As we look ahead, be sure to check the calendar for November carefully, as students will be out for Veterans Day and the Thanksgiving holiday.

We're so excited for our Trunk or Treat event next Thursday, October 31! Please note that the planning committee has made a change to the event time due to our afternoon dismissal process. We hope this adjustment won't be an inconvenience for any of our families planning to join us! To check out some important reminders, click: https://bit.ly/4hdd3Kl
Important Updates:
🎃Please arrive at 10:30 to begin setting up your trunk or treat spot!
🎃 Remember to bring everything you'll need for a spooky good time!
🎃Don't forget, you don't have to hand out candy! Please consider fun alternatives like snacks, stickers, gummies, pencils, or any small treasure!
Thank you for your understanding and we can't wait to see all of our precious trunk or treaters at our first PBIS Celebration of the school year!

Thank you so much for your support of our Pinktober events last week, bulldogs! While the final numbers are not in, we are pleased to share that together we raised over $800.00 for the Pinktober campaign! We are looking forward to giving this generous donation to the UNC Health Nash Foundation in just a few short days.
We wanted to share that our Lollipop Sale will continue this week! Lollipops can be purchased for $1.00 outside of Mrs. Jenkins fifth grade classroom from 7:40 - 8:00 each day this week. We are hopeful that by the end of the week our donation will surpass the $1,000.00 dollar mark!
