Good Evening Bulldogs! This is another 4 day week. Monday is a teacher workday. I wanted to go ahead and send out this message tonight, so that I would not interrupt those of you who will be watching the Super Bowl tomorrow night.
This week is Bus Driver Appreciation Week. If your child rides a bus, please ask him or her to tell their bus driver thank you for taking them to and from school every day. Also, if your child loves to draw and/or color, please have him or her draw their bus driver a picture. It is the little things that mean the most.
This Wednesday is Valentine’s Day. If you want to celebrate your child’s teacher in a sweet way from Chick-fil-a, please check out our school’s website or Facebook page for more details!
This week our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have their NC Check-ins. Please ensure that students get to school on time and eat a healthy breakfast so they will be ready to do their best. We all know they will do great! We believe in you Bulldogs!
This Thursday is School Resource Officer Day. Thank you, Mrs. Anna, for all that you do for our students and staff. Thank you for keeping our school safe and our car-line running smoothly. We all appreciate you!
Last but certainly not least, next Friday, February 23rd, we have a community blood drive event in our gym. If you are able, please sign up on our website or Facebook page to donate. Every eligible donor will receive a $20 Amazon gift card from the Red Cross.
I hope everyone has a great evening!!

Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians:
Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) will conduct an important Mass Communication Test on Friday, February 9, 2024. This test aims to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our communication systems, ensuring that we can reach all members of our school community promptly in critical situations.
This test will involve each school in our district. For parents and guardians with contact information linked to their child's school records, please anticipate receiving notifications via text messages, voice calls, and emails.
This initiative is crucial for confirming that our lines of communication are fully operational and that you are kept informed about your child's safety and school events.
If your email or phone number fails during our test, please be advised that your child's school will attempt to contact you through alternative means. This may include sending a letter home with your child or employing another communication method over the following four weeks.
We also want to remind you of the importance of keeping your contact information current in our system. You can review and update your child's details anytime through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, or contact your child's school. It is not uncommon for contact information to be incorrect by just a single digit, yet accurate details are crucial for ensuring that we can reach all parents and guardians effectively.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the well-being of our students and the broader school community.
Thank you,
Nash County Public Schools

Good Evening Bulldogs!
This is going to be a fun week! We would love for you and your family to join us at our PTO's General Membership Meeting this Tuesday beginning at 5:30pm in the Media Center. Beginning at 5:30, the PTO has planned a sweet "Meet and Greet" so that I can introduce myself to those of you that I have not met yet. The meeting will officially begin at 6:00pm.
On Wednesday, February 7, we will celebrate the 100th Day of School! This year, we are celebrating the GROOVY decade of the 1970's because we will have 70 days of school left after the 100th day!
Don't forget, Class Picture Day is this Thursday, February 8th! To order your child's Class Picture online, please go to mylifetouch.com and enter the code EVTJC8PS7 or you can return the paper order form that was sent home with your child last week. Please remember that if you opted-out on your child's model release form, then your child will not be able to have their picture taken and it will not be in the yearbook. Please contact the school if you have any questions about this.
This is a reminder that this is a 4 day week. We have a teacher workday this Friday and next Monday, February 12th.
Last but not least, we want to give a shout-out to Mrs. Harbison out school counselor. This week is school counselor week. Thank you Mrs. Harbison for all that you do for our students and staff. You are appreciated.
I hope everyone has a fabulous evening!

It is almost time for our annual Red Cross Blood Drive! On Friday, February 23, we will be hosting our Blood Drive in the gym from 8:30 - 2:30. Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) takes the safety of its students, staff, and community seriously. In light of a social media threat and as a precautionary measure for safety, we are initiating a soft lockdown for all NCPS. Law enforcement has been informed and is currently investigating the situation.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work diligently to maintain a safe environment for everyone at NCPS. Thank you to law enforcement for keeping our schools safe. Please checkout this page for more updates, https://www.ncpschools.net/page/emergency-landing-page .
The Rocky Mount Police Department (RMPD) and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) are actively investigating this incident.

Definition of a Soft Lockdown: A soft lockdown is a proactive response to a potential threat when the credibility of the situation has yet to be determined. Law enforcement is conducting an ongoing investigation, and the safety of our school remains paramount. There will be an increased law enforcement presence both within and around the school to ensure the safety and security of our campus. We remain committed to providing updates as the situation progresses.

Good Afternoon, Bus 94 for Coopers Elementary will not have a driver tomorrow afternoon but will have a driver for the morning route. Please plan accordingly. We apologize for the inconvenience that this situation has caused. Thank you for your patience and have a great day.

Good Evening Bulldogs and happy Sunday!!
I hope everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful January weather this weekend. It looks like this week’s weather will be just as nice.
I just want to say that last Thursday was an absolute blast. We had our PTO Fun Run and it was so nice to see all the students outside getting their exercise in, laughing and having fun with their friends, the teachers having just as much fun as their students, parents and grandparents supporting their runners, and it was all for a great cause. I honestly do not know who had more fun, the students or the staff. Thank you to everyone who made Thursday magical, from our PTO committee, to our parents and supporters, to our staff and students! Thank you all!
This week we still have our middle of the year parent conferences going on. Like I mentioned before, I would love for our staff to meet with all of our parents either over the phone or in person to discuss every child’s academics, attendance, and behavior. We are over half way through this school year and we want to keep pushing and striving for excellence!
We do have the dental bus coming out this week to support our students’ dental health. Parents, if you did not sign the permission slip for your child to be seen by the dental bus and you are interested, please reach out to our school nurse, Nurse Unrue.
Parents, please put February 6th on the your calendar. That is our next PTO meeting. This meeting will be in person and it will start at 6pm. I will be available starting at 5:30pm on February 6th for a meet and greet if you would like to come out a little early. This will be held in the library.
February 7th will be the 100th day of school, leaving 70 school days remaining. On February 7th, students can dress groovy like they are in the 70s, they can dress in their favorite 100 day attire, or they can come to school dressed like any other day. It is completely up to them.
Last but not least, thank you to Mrs. Hernandez, our school’s resource officer. She has helped to create a double car line in the afternoons for the K-2 line. This is eliminating cars being stuck out on the main road and having a traffic jam in the bus parking lot area. Thank you, parents, for your understanding and helping to make this a safe and smooth transition.
I hope everyone has a great evening and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning.

Good Evening Bulldogs!
This has been one cold weekend so I hope you have stayed warm. I don't know if you are like me or not, but if it is cold, then I want snow! If it is not going to snow, then bring on the warm weather! It looks like it is going to warm up this week, so that is great news because we have our PTO Booster Fun Run this Thursday! More information on the Fun Run can be found on our school's website, like each grade level's time and parking directions.
Tomorrow we will be practicing our second lockdown drill for the 2023-2024 school year to ensure that our students and staff know what to do in case of an emergency situation.
Last but not least, your child's teacher should be reaching out to you this month or next month to schedule a middle of the year conference. I ask that every parent meets with their child's teacher, either in person or over the phone to discuss your child's academics, attendance, and behavior. Thank you for your time and partnership.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Good Evening Bulldogs,
This is Mrs. Land from Coopers Elementary. We have had a great start to our second semester. I hope we can keep up the hard work as the semester continues.
I wanted to give a huge shout-out to our Spelling Bee winners today. In first place we had Bentley Gibson and in second place we had Brooklyn Gibson. Congratulations to both of these students. They will go on to represent our school in the district spelling bee next month. The spelling bee went 15 rounds today, showing our students truly worked hard. I am thrilled at the positive words of encouragement and great sportsmanship that all of our participants showed today. They all made me proud to be a Bulldog!
This is a reminder that this Monday is a Holiday. We are out of school in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 's birthday. We will see students back on Tuesday in the building ready for another week of teaching and learning.
I would like to introduce our newest staff member, Mrs. Sparks. She will be joining us Tuesday as our newest 2nd grade teacher. We are excited to have her.
Last but not least, thank you all for a warm welcome this week. Again, I am excited to be here and a part of this team.
Take care and have a great evening!
